Los Angeles Fire Season

The fires are far enough away that I'm not nervous, but close enough that ash was falling on me when I went out to my car (which, by the way, wouldn't start). Here are a couple of photos from my balcony.

This might be my favorite piece of set dressing ever. It made me laugh several times today. My favorite part is the need for an illustration demonstrating how you shouldn't toss your baby out. I love that the baby is going in head-first.

You know, I assumed it was a dumpster that the woman was tossing the baby into. But I'm looking at the picture again, and it could be a wall that she's tossing it over. Is she tossing it into the neighbor's yard? I wish the baby in the second picture was also upside down.

Fenway 2016

Every year I make it a point to get to Fenway Park, which is arguably the best place on the planet. This year my brother and I went to two games, both of which they lost to the White Sox by a score of 3 to 1. I still had a great time, of course. But, seriously, in a tie game with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth, with no outs, how can you not score a single run? All you need is a single, or a walk, or a sacrifice fly. Instead, they managed to get two strikeouts and a ground out to second. But as I said, I had a wonderful time. The first game (when they blew it in the ninth) we had excellent seats just past first base. The second game we had our usual seats right next to the visitors' bullpen. Here are a few shots from before that second game, with the pitcher warming up.

It was a short day today - only eleven hours or so. And it was much more pleasant than yesterday. Having no crazy Venice boardwalk lunatics to contend with certainly helps. This photo is from fairly early on in the day.
